2012 movieI’ve been meaning to watch 2012 since I saw the trailer last month. I thought that it would be an interesting watch as it depicts the end of the world in a massive scale. So after a tiresome week, and finally with 2012 on cinemas, my girlfriend and I grabbed the largest nacho and we headed to SM cinema 10.

As I’ve expected, the cinema was fully packed. My girlfriend and I had to fight for a seat until eventually we spotted two seat available at the upper right corner of the cinema. While some of the viewers are standing at the back, my girlfriend and I enjoyed the movie with every bite of nacho.

2012 is probably the best movie I’ve watched in a decade. The story wasn’t entirely predictable and the suspense was there until the very end. It started with the discovery of the earth’s core becoming extremely hot and unpredictable. As a result, the earth’s crust has become unstable, which will later lead to the earth’s restructuring.

Although 2012 depicts the end of the world, the story also centered on the life of a family. John Cusack (Jackson Curtis) and Amanda Peet (Kate) played a separated couple with two kids. Later on in the movie, the relationship between Jackson, Kate and the kids started to get better as the family got through a lot of problems. The family’s struggled focused on their effort to get inside the vessel that is suppose to save them from the massive flood and earth quake that plagues the world.

Just a small spoiler, they will need the help of a Buddhist monk from Tibet and a little influence from a Russian billionaire and of course, trip couldn’t have ended well without the help of Gordon (the husband of Kate). Oh yes, I almost forgot, everything shouldn’t have been possible without the Russian pilot who sacrificed his own life to make the trip worthwhile. You getting too much spoilers? :P

Since 2012 depicts the end of the world, naturally, you can’t get away with political leaders doing what they do best… save their own asses. Like good captains of their own ships, two presidents decided to stay with the people and opted not to abandon their sinking ships. This is an American film so you probably guessed that the American president chose to stay but you’ll have to see the movie to find out which other president did the same?

In general, 2012 is a great movie. The cinematic and the story were outstanding. I’d personally recommend it to all of you guys. This is a great watch for this weekend. Bring with you your girlfriend/boyfriend to the film, or better yet, invite the whole family and enjoy 2012. You won’t be disappointed. Trust me! :)
