ABS-CBN.com recently conducted an online poll for the best teleserye of 2009. The result revealed that viewers were captivated by the touching story Tayong Dalawa, garnering 57% of votes. Tayong Dalawa ruled the primetime ratings for nine months in 2009, and its tearful finale last September scored an amazing 45% in the TNS National TV ratings. Aside from the compelling storyline, Tayong Dalawa boasted of a powerhouse cast that included award-winning actors like Cherry Pie Picache, Gina Pareño, and Coco Martin, plus the love triangle of young stars Jake Cuenca, Kim Chiu, and Gerald Anderson. The love team of Kim and Gerald will next be seen in the teleserye Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo with Kris Aquino, while Jake will play leading man to Angelica Panganiban in Rubi.

Another unforgettable teleserye was I Love Betty La Fea, which earned 30% of votes from the poll. The Kapamilya network acquired the rights to make a local version of this world-loved Colombian telenovela. I Love Betty La Fea featured pretty actress Bea Alonzo in the role of the ugly but loveable secretary. Her box-office ka-love team John Lloyd Cruz took on the role of her handsome boss and prince charming. Bea and John Lloyd proved once again that they are a winning pair on screen. The teleserye ran from September 2008 to April 2009, cementing its place at the top of the TV ratings. Next year John Lloyd and Bea will reunite on the big screen for the film Miss You Like Crazy.

Still enjoying a big primetime following is Dahil May Isang Ikaw which landed third in the online poll. The teleserye is headlined by Grand Slam Queen Lorna Tolentino and drama king Gabby Concepcion, plus the reunion of former reel and real lovers Jericho Rosales and Kristine Hermosa.
