RP bags six nominations in the 2010 New York Festivals Television & Film Awards

New York Festivals Television & Film AwardsSix entries from the Philippines are finalists in the 2010 New York Festivals Television & Film Awards. Now on its 53rd year, the said award-giving body will conduct its awarding ceremony on May 3, 2010 at the Penthouse Lobby of the American Airlines Theater in New York City.

These are ABS-CBN’s music video of “Boto Mo, Ipatrol Mo: Ako ang Simula” and the news promotion of “Pagpag” (Leftovers). Pagpag is Dominic Almelor’s episodes for the Kapamilya Network’s documentary show The Correspondents.

Q Channel 11′s News on Q is a finalist for the category Best News Analysis/Commentary while GMA-7′s late-night program Case Unclosed is a finalist in the Docudrama category.

Planet Philippines, the GMA News and Public Affairs Environment Special hosted by Richard Gutierrez, is also a finalist in the category Environment & Ecology.

A Unitel Productions Inc. company, Unico Entertainment, is a finalist in the Documentary category for its feature film The Last Journey of Ninoy. Directed by veteran TV commercial director Jun Reyes, The Last Journey of Ninoy is a mix of actual footage and flashbacks describing the 48 hours of Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino before he was assassinated on August 21, 1983.

Prominent international media professionals comprise the Grandjury, which selected the finalists from 35 countries around the globe. All entries are screened by NYF’s international judging panels dedicated to rewarding the “World’s Best Work.”

All finalists receive a Finalist Certificate. Further judging rounds determine Bronze, Silver and Gold medal winners. Gold award winners then contend for Grand Prix Awards.

The NYF aims to recognize “The World’s Best Work” in news, documentary, information and entertainment programming as well as in music videos, infomercials, promotion spots, openings and IDs.
